I live on the Rochford/Hawkwell border in Essex with my partner and two children- my daughter was born in hospital in 1992 and my son in 1996 at home. I love working this way as it enables me to commit to women and their families fully whilst still enabling me to be around for my own family.

I worked in the NHS prior to becoming an independent midwife, where I learnt about the complications of pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period as well as normality. In fact a lot my time as a student was spent with fantastic midwives working in the community who taught me so much about normality, the importance of one to one care and continuity of carer, homebirths, waterbirths and facilitating women’s informed choices.

In addition to my professional qualifications, I have a diploma in massage and am a qualified aquanatal instructor, running classes locally.

During my spare time I like reading, travel, watching films and aim to get back to the gym too very soon! I dabble in gardening and like to frequent Starbucks as and when I can-especially for a caramel macchiato!

I love the way that being independent means I can adapt to the needs of women and their families and how well we get to know each other at such a special time in a truly individual and holistic way. I will always feel honoured to be part of such an important time in peoples’ lives.

Also, it’s wonderful to be able to work with Rachel and Jenny, who I not only trained with but are very good friends of mine too and share all the same philosophies and beliefs.
